Babies are born with reflexes that are naturally occurring and are reactions to how they are stimulated. Here are some moves that you can try with your Newborn and see how their reflexes respond:
- Place some pressure at the bottom of their foot, gently push and you will see that your Baby will push back at your hand.
- If you gently pull your Baby’s arm to extend it, your Baby will automatically bring their arm back in.
- If you open their fist your Baby will also react by bringing it back to a closed fist again.
- If your Baby is startled by a loud noise, you will see that your Baby will extend both arms out and legs at the same time, in response to the noise and will then bring their arms and legs back in afterward.
- When you stroke your Baby’s cheek, you will see their rooting reflex, this is when the Baby turns their head toward the stroking and will begin to suck.
Enjoy your baby with trying some or all of these reflexes, all of this bodily contact is great for bonding and attachment!
